University faculty pages with public emails get heavy spam. Obfuscation is worth doing.
HTML entities (recommended)
Each character becomes a numeric HTML entity. Browsers render it as the original email, but most simple scrapers reading the raw HTML see gibberish.

Academic tips
Many universities require professor emails on faculty pages. Obfuscation reduces spam without violating the policy.
For research lab pages, obfuscating PI and graduate student emails reduces ongoing spam load.
For collaborators visiting the page, obfuscated emails still work β they click the mailto link as normal.
