Line endings:

Trim each line

Remove leading and trailing spaces from every line

Collapse multiple spaces

Replace runs of spaces/tabs with a single space

Replace tabs with spaces

Convert all tab characters to a single space

Remove all empty lines

Delete lines that contain only whitespace

Collapse multiple blank lines

Reduce 3+ consecutive blank lines to just one

Remove leading blank lines

Strip blank lines at the start of the document

Remove trailing whitespace

Database imports fail silently when string values have leading or trailing spaces — " Alice" ≠ "Alice". Trim all lines before importing to prevent match failures.
