This tool uses your device's built-in text-to-speech engine via the Web Speech API. No third-party TTS provider, no API key, no usage limits.

Your OS provides the voices
Modern operating systems include high-quality voices: macOS has Alex/Samantha/etc., Windows has the Microsoft voice catalog, Android/iOS have their system voices. The browser exposes them through the SpeechSynthesis API.

Your text is sent to the OS speech engine
When you click Speak, your typed text is passed to the operating system's speech engine. The OS generates the audio waveform locally and plays it through your speakers.

Playback is controllable in real time
Pause, resume, and stop work instantly because there's no streaming buffer — the audio is generated on demand by your device.

No network request happens when you click Speak. Your text is processed by your operating system locally. Some browsers (notably Chrome on Android) may use a cloud voice service for higher-quality voices; macOS, Windows, and iOS use local voices by default.
