Most product cards work best with a small base shadow (0 1px 3px / 12% opacity) layered on a slightly larger one (0 4px 6px / 6%).
💡
Hover state: increase blur and y-offset by ~50% to give a lifted feel. Animate with `transition: box-shadow 200ms`.
🎨
For dark mode, shadows are less effective. Use a thin border-top with subtle highlight color instead of (or in addition to) shadow.
⚡
Avoid extreme blur values (>50px) — they're GPU-expensive and create banding on many displays.
