Speech recognition here uses the Web Speech API — the same engine that powers voice search in your browser. We never see or store your voice or transcript.
- 1You grant microphone permissionYour browser asks for one-time mic access. The audio stream goes directly from your microphone to the browser's built-in recognition engine.
- 2Your browser handles transcriptionIn Chrome and Safari on macOS/iOS, recognition may happen via the browser's built-in service. On Apple Silicon Macs and recent iOS devices, transcription is fully on-device.
- 3Recognized text streams into the transcript boxAs you speak, the API streams back partial results (greyed-out, italic) followed by finalized text (full opacity). The transcript is built up in your browser's memory.
The transcript lives only in your browser tab. We don't save or store anything. Close the tab and the transcript is gone. Note: depending on browser, your audio may pass through the browser vendor's recognition service — check your browser's privacy policy for specifics.
