💡 Scanned or image-heavy PDFs shrink the most with the image options. Text-only PDFs are usually already small — if nothing helps, we’ll tell you the file is already optimized rather than hand you a bigger one.
Archive PDF tips
A 100 MB PDF archive can shrink to 20–30 MB with balanced compression — that's a 70% storage reduction.
Compress old documents you rarely access but must keep. They take less space and are still readable when needed.
Use balanced compression for text-heavy documents (contracts, reports). Text remains sharp at even aggressive settings.
Keep an uncompressed backup of truly irreplaceable documents. Compression is safe but nothing beats a second copy.
