Docker Compose officially uses YAML, but the underlying schema is identical to JSON. Conversion is purely a syntax shift.
When using docker-compose programmatically (e.g., generating multiple environments), JSON is easier to manipulate, then convert back to YAML for deployment.
Some CI/CD systems output Compose configs as JSON via `docker compose config --format json`. Convert to YAML here to commit a clean version-controlled file.
YAML's ability to use anchors and aliases (`&` and `*`) doesn't survive JSON conversion β JSON has no anchor concept. The output will be fully expanded.
