Standard web setup: 644 for files, 755 for directories. Never 777 — it lets anyone write to your site, a major security hole.

Config files with secrets (wp-config.php, .env) should be 640 or 600 so they're not world-readable.

Upload directories sometimes need group-write (664/775) so the web user can save files. Grant the minimum needed.
